Report

A very depleted squad struggling with injuries travelled to Ipswich for the last game of the season, a long journey for a game which meant nothing to us having been relegated after last week's draw against Brentwood.

With no goal keeper available reserve team player/coach Harry offered to take the gloves despite struggling with a sore back. Sadly she had to pick the ball out of the net early on as we struggled to get to grips with the oppositions long balls over the top and failed to clear a couple of loose balls in the box. At 3-0 we pulled one back through Carla who raced on to Hannah's long pass and hooked it passed the out rushing keeper. We had one or two more decent chances but didn't manage to score and instead Ipswich converted one more of their many chances for 4-1 at HT.

Jonesy who could hardly run with her sore ankle was rested for Jen to come on a right back. Nat A was forced to play on with another sore ankle.

2nd half we attacked with more purpose, Hannah had plenty of space on the right wing and Carla looked threatening and we put together a few really good moves and when we focused on keeping possession we did so very well and effectively. Danielle and Coombsy worked tiredlessly and won the ball through sheer determination on a number of occassions. But we could not find the back of the net and Ispwich put four more passed Harry.

So sadly we could not finish the season on a high, despite an improvement after Christmas as we saw the return of a few injured players and also Robyn in goal made a real difference in the games she played. Our season never really got started properly, loosing our long standing goal keeper Eilis and captain Helen to injury on the eve of the season hit us hard and it took us a long time to recover and then added to that the most crazy amount of injuries i have ever seen in a season certainly didn't help!

So we re-group and aim to come back stronger next season and look forward to having a more solid and consistent campaign to show what we can really do!
